Having been vegan so long, I think I’m easily past the willpower stage.
I say willpower because the topic came up in one of the Vegan Groups I belong to on Facebook.
I agree that in the beginning, it took a certain amount of willpower to not eat fried chicken, or barbecued pork, or even some seafood sushi.
But once you get past a certain stage during one’s vegan progression, there’s really no need for willpower, and if you also are vegan because of the non-killing of sentient beings, namely the animals, then it’s easy to forego the willpower.
Just watch a vegan documentary like Earthlings, and it could just change you forever.
Like anything in Life, getting into good habits will take a certain amount of discipline, even if you already vegan… like, eating a super healthy vegan diet… I mean, one could be vegan and eat Beyond Burgers, fake fish fillets, potato chips and coke all day. These are vegan but vegan doesn’t necessarily mean healthy.
First off, I want to welcome you to the new website! It’s always exciting to start a new endeavor, and this new site will focus on all things vegan.
I started experimenting with a vegan diet more than 20 years ago in 1995. But, once I got extremely busy working and touring with a big band from 1996 to 1999, I really fell off the vegan wagon for a few years there. During this time I spent a LOT of time on the road doing gigs in Disneyland, Disney World, Las Vegas, doing a West Coast tour, doing a Southwest tour, and traveling to the Los Angeles area from San Diego to do gigs at The Viper Room and The Derby, to name a few places.
Had I seriously been a committed vegan during those three years, I think I would’ve been feeling much better… for one, I was so tired on an omnivore, meat-based diet, that I was sleeping until 1pm or more in the afternoon. Of course, I was drinking tons of coffee and espressos to keep me going and even resorted to chocolate-covered espresso beans to keep my energy up.
Our aim is to promote the vegan lifestyle as a means to thrive and maintain optimal health & fitness.
With this goal in mind, we attempt to utilize a healthy, whole foods, plant-based diet to achieve our best performance in our day-to-day living.
We hope you check back soon, and see how we progress with this new project. We’re excited about our official launch and with our enthusiasm and dedication to the vegan lifestyle, we hope to inspire you to achieve the best that you can be…
