When non-vegans are concerned about vegans it often takes the shape of protein deficiency… “where do you get your protein?”
I’ll just say this once. The short answer is… “all plant foods contain protein!”
Here’s the deal! As a Vegan you simply have to eat a varied diet of grains, fruits, vegetables, tubers, berries, nuts, seeds and legumes. All of these foods contain protein, but here’s the catch… the human body actually needs amino acids, the building blocks of protein. Amino acids are more abundant in plants in the form of enzymes.
Too Much Protein is Acidic!
If you eat a diet heavy in protein, that protein has to be broken down into amino acids anyway in order to build the kind of protein the human body needs.
Our society is so obsessed with protein, it seems to reasonable to conclude that the Meat & Dairy Industries have over-emphasized anima protein. And if you are a person on the Standard American Diet, who eats animal foods at every meal, the probability is great that you are getting way to much protein… which leads me to the crux of this article…
Too much protein is acidic!!!
And a high acidity in the human body usually leaves us susceptible to disease, and at the very least, health problems and a decreased immune system.
